Brand Design Director

Overview

THERE Studio – Sydney – is on the lookout for sharp-minded Design Director for our Branding Team.

A Sydney-based branding agency that believes creativity shows up everywhere — from bold brand identities to the way we solve problems, run projects, and collaborate as a team.

We are a friendly, diverse, small knit team, working out of an amazing studio space located a short walk from Redfern or Central station, with a fantastic work, and team culture that is big on wellbeing and reward.

We’re looking for a Brand Design Director to lead our brand work and help shape the next chapter of THERE. This is a senior creative role for someone who loves big ideas, beautiful design, and building brands that actually move businesses forward.

You’ll lead brand projects from early strategic thinking through to final execution, mentor a talented design team, run workshops with clients, and play a key role in new business and studio growth.

The Role

You’ll head up the design direction of our brand projects and campaigns, guiding the team from insight to idea to execution.

This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with our ECD, designers and client team to ensure every project is strategically grounded, creatively ambitious, and beautifully delivered.

This role is a mix of:

Creative leadership

– Lead concept development and design direction across brand and identity projects

– Guide and mentor the design team

– Run internal critiques and elevate the creative standard across the studio

Hands-on design

– Develop brand identities, visual systems and campaigns

– Translate strategy into clear creative directions

– Push ideas from concept through to craft and delivery

Strategy & workshops

– Help run brand workshops with clients

– Turn insights into strong brand narratives and creative platforms

– Present ideas clearly and confidently

Studio leadership

– Foster a collaborative, positive creative culture

– Support and develop the design team

– Contribute to the evolution of THERE’s creative reputation

Business growth

– Support pitches and proposals

– Build strong client relationships

– Help identify new opportunities with existing and future clients

About You

You’re a senior brand creative who combines strategic thinking with world-class design craft.

You’re curious, collaborative and confident presenting ideas. You care about the work, but also about building a strong team and studio culture.

You likely have:

– 10+ years experience in branding or design studios

– 3+ years experience in a design leadership role

– A portfolio of exceptional brand identity work

– Deep knowledge of design craft and typography

– Advanced Adobe CC skills
