Located within Japanese architect Kengo Kuma’s first Australian building, The Nest childcare centre focuses on providing a community experience within a striking architectural landmark.
The circular building is wrapped in a 20km spiral of sustainably sourced timber, with the round floor plan leading to a sequence of internal spaces that children progress through as they grow older.
The graphics and branding for the space were designed to reflect the cosmopolitan surrounds of the new centre – with a range of large scale illustrations that line the core of the building and reflect a fantastical urban world made up from building blocks and simple geometry.
Playful characters interact with their surroundings in surprising ways, encouraging the children to develop a lifelong sense of discovery and exploration.
