Located in the heart of Perth, the EY workplace reimagines the corporate environment as a culturally connected destination within its premier Elizabeth Quay setting.
In collaboration with Whadjuk, Nyikina, Minang and Ballardong artist Dana Garlett, a graphic language inspired by ancient trade routes and local waterways was introduced. At its centre, a flowing glazed staircase encourages movement and features imagery of Perth / Boorloo’s significant waterways, reflecting their cultural importance to the local Whadjuk people. Garlett’s storytelling also helps to connect four distinct zones — the Park, Library, Academy and Arena — each supporting different work styles.
On the front-of-house floor, blackbutt wall panels are etched with motifs of traditionally traded Noongar goods – including tools, animal skins, ochres and seeds – symbolising the sharing of resources, ideas and culture.
The signage and wayfinding strategy is designed to be intuitive and inclusive, with softened forms, finishes and colours carefully considered to support accessibility for all users. Materials were selected to complement the interior palette, reinforcing its warmth and authenticity.
The result is a welcoming environment where cultural storytelling, organic design and functional clarity combine to create a workplace grounded in connection and belonging.
