Goodman – Rosebery Engine Yards Wayfinding

Warehouse Wayfinding

Rosebery Engine Yards is an emblem of Sydney’s industrial past, a repurposed factory site within one of the city’s first planned suburbs. As part of an adaptive reuse strategy, the heritage listed warehouses have been developed into a new iconic home for business and retail. A clear and intuitive wayfinding system was developed to honour the site’s character while guiding visitors through its newly accessible interior.

Signage components are designed as interchangeable panels mounted on a standardised frame, allowing for easy reconfiguration as flexible tenant spaces change or expand. Materials are deliberately raw and utilitarian – blackened steel signage sits against aged brick and weathered concrete, ensuring high visibility without disrupting the building’s aesthetic. Typography is condensed and crafted, referencing the precinct branding which took its cues from historic factory stamps and markings.

Conceived as an extension of the building’s industrial heritage, wayfinding elements are layered into the space, providing clarity and cohesion within the distinct space.
