Chippendale’s historic Brewery Yard development has been transformed into a future-facing workplace for Block’s second Australian HQ. The flagship office unites teams from across Block’s ecosystem, headlined by Australian fin-tech company Afterpay and Square.
The Brewery Yard takes Block’s digital-first brand language and overlays it onto the raw aesthetic of the Kent St Brewery site. The result is an impressive example of adaptive-reuse, where the building’s history and Block’s brand uniquely combine. Pixel-pushing wayfinding slides out of the industrial architecture, creating the appearance of an ever-evolving signage system that maps the new terrain.

The heritage site is part of Tech Central – Australia’s largest innovation district that serves as a connected melting pot of tech giants and visionary start-ups. The project marks the fifth Block / Afterpay workplace completed by THERE, with a wayfinding system that builds on principles established in their Melbourne, San Francisco and Barcelona offices.
