The Foundry is a state-of-the-art development that, together with the neighbouring Axle building, forms part of Australia’s largest single-company workplace.
Combined with the wayfinding scheme, two distinct placemaking installations help to define the building’s identity.
A digital installation welcomes workers travelling between the campus buildings, the content of which reveals the inner workings of the site by removing layers of a digital façade. Inspired by the area’s industrial heritage, an animated landscape lives beneath the surface.
As the panels peel back, a mechanised landscape slides into view, with a series of shapes and forms building into an elaborate, interconnected landscape.
LINKING INDUSTRY WITH ANCESTRY
A commissioned artwork by artist Otis Hope Carey forms the backdrop to the reception. Titled ‘Ngiinda Darrundang Gaagal’ (I Thank the Ocean), it draws inspiration from a ceremonial dance performed by coastal Indigenous Australians, helping to link the industrial, urban site, with the ancient ancestry of the land.
